What I did on my writing vacation...

Hiatuses are good.

Been spending the last couple of days NOT writing--which is surprisingly difficult, since I have so many projects I'd like to start/continue/complete. Still, I can't deny that treating myself to a brain break is really helping...of course, I'm also dealing with a lovely cough/flu thing, so laying low isn't a bad idea.

It's occurred to me that I don't take enough pleasure in my life, so I've been steadily dosing myself with joy over the past couple of days. Here's what I treated myself to:
  • 1 McDonald's Cheeseburger (more than that would be disgusting)
  • A pretty new ID holder for my Metropass (because I always seem to carry it and my debit card independently of my wallet)
  • Pizza (from Eglinton Station--they make the best pizza there)
  • PS2 video game--Avatar: The Burning Earth (on sale for $20 at Toys R Us! I've wanted this for a long time, but didn't want to shell out $50 for it)
  • Trendy black tights (because they're trendy)

In addition to playing ATLA: TBE until I pass out from not blinking, I've actually sat down to watch FullMetal Alchemist, which I acquired some time ago and haven't been able to sit through. I've entirely forgotten to joy of vegging out in front of the TV, watching episode after episode of something that seems to have no end in sight. (Yeah, yeah, everyone tells me to watch Bleach--I'll get there eventually.)

As I write this, I am eating blueberry pancakes John has made. They're delish.
Oh, the simply joys in life.

We had a great time meeting you on Sunday, too! :D (You have no idea how long I've been hoping to sit down and just talk together like regular people.)

And I'm SO happy you're finally taking a breather to relax. You've worked your butt off these past few... months? (Years?) ;) Kick back, enjoy yourself, and go get a second pizza. (Also, how was ATLA:TBE?)

BTW, you were completely on-target w/ "The Tao of Sex". The male lead reminded me of so many of my Chinese guy friends I nearly put the book down at one point to remind myself it was a piece of fiction and no, my guy friends did not offer Tantric lessons (le sigh); and the way the temple women (his family) welcomed him and the newest member of the family into the temple also brought back very fond memories of our recent trip to Taiwan and the way John's fam welcomed me & Elliott. (The characterizations were very well-developped in the book, too.)

Thank you so much for the book & the other reading selections -- I'm currently making a new reading list for 2008, so they're going straight to the top. XD (... after I check out a few more of Jade Lee's works.) ;)

Take care through June, & hopefully we'll see you in August! :D

You know what is even better than FullMetal Alchemist? Full Metal Panic! I have the filler season (Season 1.5 if you will) if you want it.

I watch Bleach regularly but I don't recommend it to anyone who has not seen it yet. It has gone on for way too long and the plotline is all about how the main character will power up to save the world.
